I want Sanders or whoever else might be elected to be the Best Climate President in US History. Nothing else matters nearly as much.

    *** Uh-oh: Silicon Valley is building a Chinese-style social credit system ***
^^^ That Instagram pic showing you teasing a grizzly bear at Yellowstone with a martini in one hand, a bucket of cheese fries in the other, and a cigarette in your mouth, could cost you. On the other hand, a Facebook post showing you doing yoga might save you money. ^^^

I’m sure the first part is right, but I’ve never had an insurance company lower my rates, no matter what I do. My house is right down the road from a fire station instead of ten miles away? No change!
Everybody used to worry about Big Brother taking control of our lives. Looks like it’ll be Big Business instead. Not exactly a step up…

The term “Neera Tanden” hadn’t meant anything other than being a generic cuss word on most of the blogs I read, so I had to look her up. Wiki:

^^^ Tanden supported the NATO-led military intervention in Libya. She argued that Libya should be forced to hand over its oil revenue as reimbursement for the military intervention in Libya.[12][13] She was described as a “hawkish”. In September 2013, Tanden tweeted that “an unpoliced world is dangerous.” She has been a supporter of Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. In 2016, she met India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In 2019, Tanden welcomed the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and condemned his leftist supporters, tweeting that “the Assange cultists are the worst. Assange was the agent of a proto fascist state, Russia, to undermine democracy. That is fascist behaviour. Anyone on the left should abhor what he did.” ^^^

    Warmongering neocon disciple of Hillary.

A person has to wonder what Nancy Pelosi would consider bad enough to impeach the *******.

*** Good ‘ol Uncle Joe is rambling again ***
Even people who approve of Biden’s politics ought to oppose his candidacy. Example:

*** When Ilhan Omar Is Accused of Anti-Semitism, It’s News. When a Republican Smears Muslims, There’s Silence. ***
^^^ And as you have more and more Muslims in the United States, as they gain greater and greater influence in elections, particularly in Democratic Party primaries, then you’re going to see more and more people like Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and company that are anti-Israel, and that brings an entirely different viewpoint into the United States Congress.” ^^^

Thus saith Rep. Mo Brooks, a right-wing Republican congressperson from Alabama…
Couldn’t the good citizens of that part of Alabama locate a candidate with a 3-digit IQ?

Religion in the United States (2016)
    Protestantism (48.9%)
    Roman Catholicism (23.0%)
    Mormonism (1.8%)
    No religion (18.2%)
    Judaism (2.1%)
    Islam (0.8%)

I have some sympathy for Trump voters because their only other choice was another criminal. It’s very difficult for me to ‘care’ much about people who purchase Apple products.

*** Ag Policy: Warren’s Supply Management Program ***
^^^ My plan will make it economically feasible for farmers to be part of the climate change solution by increasing CSP’s payments for sustainable farming practices from around $1 billion today to $15 billion annually — and expanding the types of practices eligible for compensation — so that every farmer who wants to use their land to fight climate change can do so. ^^^

That’s plainly baloney. Warren needs to hire some better advisers, and also spend some time learning what “solutions” to climate change truly involve. Mitigating the effects of extreme weather on both farms and farmers is a worthwhile goal, but that is surely secondary to halting CO2 releases from fossil fuels.

Letting the Libertarians loose in Japan was probably a mistake. Regarding Milton Friedman, when I read that famous book of his I came to understand the man was a dangerous fanatic.

*** The Space Between Galaxies Isn’t Empty ***
Great science read, but yet another stake in the heart of my favorite SF novel. Poul Anderson’s “Tau Zero” may be outdated six ways, but it’s still a wonderful story.
