  1. Zachary Smith says:

*** In the future, only the rich will be able to escape the unbearable heat from climate change. In Iraq, it’s already happening ***
Focusing in on the “only the rich” part, here is a conspiracy notion of why India is making a big grab for Kashmir.
https://www.opednews.com/articles/Kashmir-The-Fight-for-the-by-Wayne-Madsen-Argentina_Chile_China_Climate-190816-665.html The author remarks how the much higher and cooler lands of Kashmir may cause a bidding war among the wealthy Hindu elites. Oddly enough, the name of the Apartheid state comes up as well. Egypt isn’t making much noise about the new capital it proposes to build on higher ground. I’d say most governments are making plans, and those plans involve somebody else feeling the pain.

*** Cuccinelli’s Statue of Liberty poem: Give me your rich, entitled masses ***
In my opinion this is PC baloney. The Statue of Liberty was given to the US to celebrate the end of black slavery, which explains the broken shackles at the feet of Liberty. Emma Lazarus
was by most accounts a nice person. She was deeply into helping impoverished New York Jews, and had trouble raising money for their cause. Somebody proposed a poem to be auctioned off. The scheme didn’t raise much money. Years after both her death and the building of the Statue somebody put up a plaque with the poem, and for years it was ignored.

*** The Case against Obama ***
Not bad, but not good either. IMO the author goes to considerable lengths to downplay Obama’s sins, and comes very close to lying outright at times.

*** The desert gets a biocrust skin graft ***
For another view of ‘biocrust’ in a desert environment:

IMO the link article is not a very good one. I’d wager chaotic weather is arriving in desert environments, same as everywhere else. That “astonishing” erosion rate of 8,900 pounds of soil per year didn’t happen from periodic .3 inch rains. And the 4+ tons of soil loss can be compared to 100+ tons in badly handled temperate fields where farmers have been careless.
