I don’t know what’s going on here, but I can guess. ‘Somebody” is taking out some extra insurance to make certain Sanders doesn’t get the nomination. In my uninformed opinion Steyer will play much the same role as Perot did in the 1992 election – guaranteeing a particular candidate doesn’t win. Call it crazy, but I’m still of the belief Bush Daddy deliberately “threw” that old election. Among many other things, it ensured the passage of NAFTA. I believe it also kept GHWB out of prison.

*** Why Can’t Good People And Bad People Find A Compromise? ***
The title of this blog piece made me bristle, but the actual text was quite good.

*** A Code Red drill and nowhere to hide: A Cobb student’s moment of terror ***
Modern US High School and Grade School kids are growing up in a hell I can barely imagine. These “Code Red drills” are the equivalent of painting the spots on a patient with Measles.

This politician is just putting out some stuff his Consultants believe might gain him some delegates. That legislation he is sponsoring may or may not do some nice things, but curbing Climate Change isn’t one of them.

*** In the year 2000, Congress voted to grant China upgraded trade status, ….. Bernie Sanders ….. blasted Bill Clinton ***
Clinton was basically a pro-choice Republican posing as a Democrat. His aiding of China was a continuation of the neocon scheme started by Saint Reagan. The link is to a 1986 Business Week half-page article about Reagan actually ARMING China. (BW didn’t think much of the idea)
The Heritage Society had plenty of doubts as well.
Did Bush-the-dumber gift China that intelligence plane? Was the fancy drone Iran ended up with an accident – or were ‘they’ helping along another “enemy” so as to bolster the Military Industrial Complex? I don’t know the answer to either of those, but a person has to be suspicious.

*** How Rwanda could be the first country to wipe out cervical cancer ***
My first thought was this was too good to be true. Investigation has turned up nothing except for some indications the Roman Church in Rwanda is substantially more sane than it’s co-religionists in other places. Another pleasant surprise, and I hope the link story doesn’t have any hidden kinks. Good news is quite rare these days.

Regarding the theme of the DNC, the debates, and the new Rich Candidate, I’ve run into a couple of articles about that organization’s preferences.
    From one of them:

^^^ The reigning corporate Democrats would rather lose to the right, even to a proto-fascistic white nationalist and eco-exterminist right, than lose to the left, even to a mildly progressive social democratic and environmentalist left within their own party. ^^^

The other one tells how stifling Gabbard is so essential they’re willing to do whatever it takes with their highly flexible “debate rules” to keep her out of sight.

^^^ Why doesn’t the DNC want Gabbard in the debates? Two reasons come to mind.
Firstly, her marquee issue is foreign policy. She thinks the US should be less militarily adventurous abroad, and as an army veteran of the post-9/11 round of American military interventions in the Middle East and Central Asia, she’s got the credentials to make her points stick.
Foreign policy is a weak spot for the increasingly hawkish Democratic establishment in general and the front-runner and current establishment pick, former vice-president Joe Biden, in particular. As a Senator, Biden voted to approve the ill-fated US invasion of Iraq. As vice-president, he supported President Barack Obama’s extension of the war in Afghanistan and Obama’s ham-handed interventions in Libya, Syria, and other countries where the US had no business meddling. The party’s leaders would rather not talk about foreign policy at all and if they have to talk about it they don’t want candidates coloring outside simplistic “Russia and China bad” lines.
Secondly, Gabbard damaged — probably fatally — the establishment’s pre-Biden pick, US Senator Kamala Harris, by pointing out Harris’s disgusting authoritarian record as California’s attorney general. Gabbard knows how to land a punch, and the DNC doesn’t want any more surprises. They’re looking for a coronation, not a contest. ^^^

So probably the new billionaire candidate Steyer will try to replace Harris. Keep in mind that those no-verify touchscreen computer voting devices can alter primaries too, and it’s likely the next US President will be determined in the Democratic Primaries. These easily manipulated machines could turn out to be Very Useful for either keeping Biden as Front-Runner – or for pushing a new DNC candidate up to take his place. Have I mentioned the new guy has a pile of money? Oh yeah, I did. Wonder how much a bunch of super-hackers would cost….
