If you’ve been on the intertubes at all, you might have come across a storm of indignation directed at comedian Kathy Griffin over what was a really tasteless, violent display directed at Trump. She was widely condemned by both pro- and anti-Trump supporters. On the left (defined very broadly), reactions ranged from Griffin is a tasteless idiot to outright disgust. In spite of that, the Mighty Conservative Wurlitzer has gone full tilt over this. Here’s the thing: they might not wish that they had.
As usual, the left is being forced to eat a shit sandwich entirely not of its own making. And there’s no point in noting the hypocrisy of someone like Ann Coulter, who made an entire career out of being vile, or Ted Nugent, whose reward for violent rhetoric is an invitation to the White House.
It doesn’t matter. It never matters. Words are merely weapons for them, and they lack meaning.
Right now, conservatives are blessed with their opponents: the left spent the day condemning Griffin. No one–and I mean no one–defended her. And the left’s reward for its high-mindness? The Fox News/Breitbart beast is still roaring in high dudgeon. Nothing will appease it.
At some point, the lesson the left will learn, as things get worse and the left more desperate, is that integrity and honesty are not their own rewards, that we do not and will not win because we are right but because we have power, that we too must wield words as weapons. The left can also say, “Fuck your feelings.”
That will be a very sad moment. And conservatives will wish we hadn’t learned that lesson.

I am reminded of the words of William Tecumseh Sherman, on why he made his famous push through Atlanta to the coast, and why it was necessary for him to be remorseless in his strategy:
“My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.”
He apparently felt that they (the South, and by extension conservatives) would never understand what they were in for by taking the country to war and it was his duty to literally pound it into their thick skulls what they were asking for and to make their defeat so humiliating that they would forget clamoring to fight and come to peace. It’s too bad they never learned that lesson…..
The problem that I have with this is that it isn’t productive. Why create an unnecessary storm that diverts attention from real issues? What is the point of this? Between Kathy Griffin’s exploits and Hillary Clinton’s pathetic attempts to try and join the resistance, the democrats have a real PR problem.
The first rule of modern American politics is never, ever apologize. It is weak. Trump and the Republican Party have provided liberals and the Democratic Party the perfect excuse for whatever might blow up in the media: that ‘politically correct’ bullshit cuts both ways. Republicans and the media can dish it out but they cannot take it. The first comment above nails it: the snowflakes better get used to it because it isn’t going to stop. Democrats need to start using the f-word liberally: The Trumpistas are acting like fascists and it needs to be pointed out every day.
Tit for tat goes way back in game theory. The Prisoner’s Dilemma should be required reading for every Democrat running for office. Until the left understands this we are at risk of losing it all. Obama should never have made nice. He should never have appointed a Republican to head the FBI. Democrats must never forget that the Republican party is completely unfit to govern, and use that as a guiding principle.
So, I’m fine with Griffin’s antics. It’s free speech, and the media are just being their usual pack of weasels.
As for Hillary: she needs to say it louder, and absolutely without apology. By speaking up she gives support to every other public voice criticizing the monsters in the White House. The left is way too eager to get the vapors over some imperfection in their leaders. That’s snowflake behavior.
