In a few months, the main branch of the D.C. library, the Martin Luther King Library will be closed for several years for renovations. As a result, other libraries will be open later, and the city will open a “Library Express” at 1990 K St., NW, where one can pick up reserves and drop off books.
This is actually a good thing for residents of Dupont Circle, as Dupont Circle is a ‘library desert’: depending on where you are in the neighborhood, all of the libraries are at least one mile away.
Maybe the city could keep this open, even after the MLK library reopens? Just a thought.
