“Hillary was one of the earliest advocates of shaming teachers using tests, before most states were doing so”
I dunno…
1. there’s no link in that tweet to the original of that quoted material, so no way to go and read it for the full context. i hate when i can’t do that (must be all that science training I had back in the day).
2. apparently she was only for testing teachers only one time (at least at one point in her career), right after graduation, likening it the bar exam for lawyers: http://www.ontheissues.org/Celeb/Hillary_Clinton_Education.htm
3. and apparently she proposed the teacher testing to placate conservatives who didn’t want to go along with (a) raising taxes and (b) paying teachers more: https://medium.com/education-reform/hillary-rodham-clinton-f40d5eca90cb#.ar2i0ir42
yes, the “raise taxes” part appears to have been an increase in sales tax (regressive), and she appears to believe in a lot of other neoliberal and even conservative education “reforms” too, including “streamlining due process” for “bad” teachers (ugh). http://citizen.education/index.php/tag/hillary-clinton/
4. Hillary’s not sold on vam, and she appears to have changed her mind about charter schools (she used to think they were a good idea, now maybe not so much). http://citizen.education/index.php/tag/hillary-clinton/
y’know, when paul krugman changes his mind, it’s because he has examined the facts, but when Hillary Clinton changes her mind, it’s probably just triangulation…..
yes, I much prefer Bernie sanders’ take on education, but the Clinton derangement syndrome is driving me nuts.

Seems to me that one of the most important “womens issues” is not voting for someone who has a proven willingness to send their (not her) children off to die in an unnecessary and illegal war.
