The New England Aquarium has finished renovating the Giant Ocean Tank. At the top level of the tank, some small exhibits have been added. One of them features a flying gurnard (a fish). They’re not native to New England, but apparently this one hitched a ride on the Gulf Stream and was rescued by the NE Aquarium:

Personally, I think it looks like one of those weird flies with ‘painted’ wings. Anyway, here’s a close up:

Gurnard is native here in the UK. We had one for supper last week. Very tasty.
