Surprised you’d list “fat city” under your science section. It’s an opinion piece pitting anecdata against actual science and in which the actual science barely gets a passing glance (as trying to find “excuses’ for fat people, no less!).
Indeed, doctors can’t do everything, and that perhaps needs to be written about more… but that piece is so weird (when she describes the young man who’s demanding that they operate on him even though the surgery likely wouldn’t help him… Is it so hard really to understand someone desperate would just maybe not be 100% rational? How does that prove any point, I wonder?). Again, I fail to see the science in there (maybe the sense of superiority and the condescending/disgusted tone is too loud for me to hear it).
